Alright, alright, I just made that last one up. That said, if anyone wants to submit it to Merriam-Webster, I won’t be mad about it.
Hell, if Lil Wayne got bling bling in there, anybody can do it, right?
Anyways…
The nectar collector, also called a vertical dabber, honey straw, or dab straw, is one of the sexiest ways of consuming herbal concentrates. It’s simple, it’s efficient, and it’s cost-effective.
Technically there are two versions of the word. Uncapitalized, nectar collector, is a product category that includes a wide variety of straw-like dabbing tools made of glass, quartz, metal, and/or silicone.
The other version of the word is a brand name, Nectar Collector®, the company that originally developed the technology.
So, What is a Nectar Collector? And How Do You Use It?
A nectar collector consists of 3 main parts: Tip, Body, and Neck. These may be fused into a single piece, or modular for portability, interchangeability, and ease of cleaning.
The neck is the topmost part of the vaporizer, the mouthpiece. The body is the part that you hold, which also may or may not include a special spill-proof percolation chamber. The tip is the part that you heat with a torch and press into your container of concentrate to vaporize it.
The longer you hold the tip down into your (usually glass or silicone) dish full of wax, the bigger your dab will be. A common practice is repeatedly tapping the tip into the wax until you reach the desired level of vapor production, which prevents accidentally taking too big of a hit.
This solves one of the main drawbacks of using a traditional dab rig, giving the user more control over the size of their hit without feeling guilty about wasting oil!
And, like I’ve always said, wasting herb is against my religion.
Nectar Collector Benefits
There are a lot of advantages to using a nectar collector instead of a traditional oil rig, dab pens, or concentrate vaporizers.
Nectar collectors offer the portability and efficiency of dab pens, with the low-tech reliability of a water pipe. And they can be less expensive than all of the above, both in terms of the initial cost and conservation of your stash.
Last but not least, they’re easy to use and easy to clean! The nectar collector truly is a revolutionary design from so many angles.
